Hearts transfer update as Joe Savage confirms the three positions Jambos want to fill

Hearts sporting director Joe Savage says the Jambos are targeting another three players this summer.

Already they have signed Alan Forrest, Lewis Neilson, Jorge Grant, Alex Cochrane, Kye Rowles and Lawrence Shankland ahead of their new Premiership season and European group stage football, either in the Europa League or Europa Conference League. Savage and manager Robbie Neilson have identified three specific positions they want to bolster and the director says recruitment was paramount. They parted ways with several players earlier this summer and Hearts replacements are needed.

He told Sky Sports: "We've done six so we've got an extra three we need to get. It's been well documented we're probably looking for another centre-back, central midfielder and another attacker. We lost quite a few players and had four on loan last season. We lost John Souttar and a few others have moved on, Aaron McEneff just moved recently so we always planned eight or nine.

"We're trying to see what's out there, we're in talks with quite a few people to see if there's something to be done. We want quality over quantity.

"We've signed some good players so far but you look at the other teams in the league, they've signed some good players as well.

"So the league looks like it's going to be much better next season which is good for us. We're trying to make sure we get the best team we possibly can."
