Hearts star Cammy Devlin out to 'shock the world' with Australia vs France with gameplan to WIN

Cammy Devlin admits he is 'super pumped' to face France as he revealed Australia have a gameplan to WIN and 'shock the world'.

The Hearts star is joined in Graham Arnold's squad alongside club team-mates Kye Rowles and Nathaniel Atkinson while Celtic's Aaron Mooy is also included in the pool. Hibs attacker Martin Boyle had been selected but has since been ruled out after failing to recover from the injury sustained last month at club level in a major blow to player and country.

The Socceroos begin their World Cup bid tonight as they come up against European heavyweights France and all the talent they have in their ranks including superstar Kylian Mbappe. The 24-year-old can't wait to test himself at the highest level and says the plan is to 'shock the world' in their opener of the section that also includes Denmark and Tunisia.

Speaking to Australian breakfast program The Today Show, he said: “I’m super pumped. It’s a great experience for myself, to be over here. The boys are pumped, there’s good vibes in camp and just can’t wait to get going.

“As a team you’ve got to go into any game full of confidence. We prepare every day in training with a gameplan to win. We’re in a group stage at the moment that the goal is to win games. That’s how you progress.

“We’ve got a good team in front of us but I think that any team you face in the World Cup, any 32 of them are going to be good opponents. Everyone has been preparing for so long for these games.

“Good opponent but we’ve got a gameplan and the plan is to shock the world. Fingers crossed we can be doing that.

"It's 11 players versus 11 players. It doesn’t matter where you are or who you’re playing for, we’re on the same pitch at that time so us boys will be given the gameplan that we’ve had set out and giving it the best crack.

“We’ll be taking the game to them and fingers crossed we can come out with the best outcome.”
