Hearts star Cammy Devlin makes Australia debut as Hibs hero Jason Cummings nets on Socceroos bow

Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin has boosted his chances of going to the World Cup with Australia by making his debut for the Socceroos against New Zealand - while Hibs hero Jason Cummings scored on his bow.

The forward moved to the A-League with Central Coast Mariners after a spell at Dundee earlier this year and has family links to the country, allowing him to pledge his allegiance to them after hitting form down under. Alongside Hearts' Devlin, he came off the bench to make his mark ahead of Graham Arnold picking his squad for Qatar 2022.

He netted a penalty to seal a 2-0 friendly win over New Zealand, and he couldn't have been happier after the match: Described by the Australian national's team's twitter as 'one of the all-time great post-match interviews, Hibs ' former striker told Paramount: "I am absolutely buzzing. I was champing at the bit to try and get on. The boys have been different class."

Devlin earned his call-up following impressive form for Hearts since his move to Tynecastle from Wellington Phoenix, with Cummings now at Central Coast Mariners.

Nathaniel Atkinson also got minutes in the latest friendly as he builds on his game time with Robbie Neilson's men.

Hibs' Martin Boyle was also in the squad for the match but he was given a rest ahead of returning back to Edinburgh.
