Hearts set to face Celtic hero Scott Brown and Fleetwood as they plan THREE more friendlies

Hearts are planning to play THREE more pre-season games ahead of the Premiership opener against St Johnstone on August 5.

The capital club will face Fleetwood Town and Wigan down south before hosting Leeds United at Tynecastle. Celtic hero Scott Brown and his troops will face the Jambos on Wednesday evening before facing Wigan Athletic on Sunday. They then return to Edinburgh to face Leeds - who suffered relegation from the English Premier League last term.

The Gorgie men have so far played two pre-season matches against Plymouth Argyle and Dunfermline Athletic as preparations for the new domestic campaign and the Europa Conference League qualifiers get into full swing. Head coach Frankie McAvoy explained via Edinburgh Evening News: “We are playing Fleetwood and Wigan. The Leeds game will be another big one, great for our support and they will bring a huge following as well.

“We are gearing them [players] up as best we can for difficult fixtures. We had a difficult one last week against Plymouth, who are coming up into the English Championship.

"It's about getting minutes in, bringing people back into the fold and letting them see how we want to do things.”

The Jambos will find out their Europa Conference League third qualifying round opponents on July 24 with the two-legged tie taking place on August 10 and August 17.

They will need to negotiate two rounds of qualifying to return to the group stage like last term. They enjoyed wins over RFS at this stage while they also faced beaten finalists Fiorentina in their section along with Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir.
