Hearts have posted a £3million operational profit as the club says it is back to the levels of “financial strength” it enjoyed before the pandemic.
The Hearts accounts for the 2021/22 financial year have been published, with more detail to be available when the Jambos hold their AGM on Thursday, 15 December. Turnover increased by a massive 90 per cent while a pre-tax profit of £1.7million was also recorded, mainly thanks to player sales and the continued support of club benefactor, James Anderson, as well as the return of fans to Tynecastle following the 2020/21 lock out.
Robbie Neilson’ s side secured a third place finish last term, and while they were knocked out of the Europa League playoff by FC Zurich, they dropped into the group stages of the Europa Conference League. The UEFA cash that comes with that will be included in next year's numbers, but solidarity payments from the European governing body and a lucrative run to the Scottish Cup final helped to boost turnover.
The Gorgie club noted assets of £24million at the end of June 2022. Operating costs have also risen however, going up by 60 per cent.
Robbie Neilson has stated his aim to finish as best of the rest once again this season, with the long-term goal of being regular competitors in Europe. The Jambos currently trail Aberdeen by four points and Livingston by two in the battle for the European spots.
