Hearts player ratings vs RFS as Craig Gordon proves age is just a number in fine Euro display

Lawrence Shankland and Alan Forrest were on target as Hearts picked up their first win in the Europa Conference League.

Andy Halliday's cross was blocked by a hand with the referee in no doubt as he pointed for a penalty. The Scotland international stepped up and fired into the top corner of the net to send the away support wild. Sub Forrest added a second in added time to secure a big three points for the capital club as they bring an end to their poor run of form and get their European hopes up and running.

At the other end Craig Gordon showed his class once again and proved age is just a number with a series of stunning saves to deny the hosts. A main for the big occasion and he proved his importance to Robbie Neilson's side once again. This result coupled up with Istanbul Basaksehir's emphatic win over Fiorentina means the Gorgie side finish the night in second spot in the section after two games.

Here's how we rated the Hearts players after a fine win on the road.

Michael Smith - 6

Important defensive header in early stages. His experience proved key. Did well.

Stephen Kingsley - 6

Calm and composed figure as always. Cross missed by keeper early on with Ginnelly missing golden chance. Will be vital with Halkett back on the sidelines. Forced a good save late on.

Craig Halkett - 4

First game since Zurich away. Deemed fit to start but only lasted 20 minutes on his return. Huge blow.

Jorge Grant - 6

Back after his suspension from matchday one. Worked his socks off. Subbed on 70 minutes.

Lawrence Shankland - 7

Stunning penalty into the top corner. Fifth goal for the club. Missed a big chance to make it two moments later. Booked.

Cammy Devlin - 6

A work horse. Landed first Australia call-up this week. Big boost and confidence showed. Never shy's away from a battle.

Andy Halliday - 7

Got into great area after 30 minutes but his header was straight at goalkeeper. Another big chance minutes later but missed. Won penalty for Hearts. Up and down the park. Huge shift.

Barrie McKay - 7

Hearts' most influential player. When he is on it, he is unstoppable. Moment of magic started the attack that won Hearts a penalty. Quiet start to game but woke up as match progressed.

Alex Cochrane - 6

Booked early on. Up and down as he supported attack and defence. Calm throughout.

Josh Ginnelly - 7

Denied by a stunning save from an early long-range effort. Heavily involved for the visitors. Did changes no harm of regular start. Booked early in the second half for trailing leg from good tackle.

SUBS

Lewis Neilson - 6

On for the injured Halkett. Massive night for the youngster and he didn't look out of place. Brilliant run out of defence just before the hour. Huge potential.

Peter Haring - 3

Came on in the final 20 minutes. Shored things up. Booked late on.

Alan Forrest - 5

Fresh legs for final 11 minutes. Replaced Shankland. Secured win with goal from bench.

Stephen Humphrys - 2

Maybe unlucky not to start this one after making an impression last week. Subbed on with 10 to play. Too late to make any real impact.
