Hearts right-back Gerald Taylor is facing a lengthy lay-off with suspected anterior cruciate ligament damage.
The Costa Rican, who joined the Jambos this summer, went off at half-time in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat by St Mirren and appears to have sustained an injury that could all-but end his season.
“It’s disappointing news, he’s got a real issue with his knee,” said interim manager Liam Fox on Friday. “It’s a blow. We don’t have the exact timescale but it will be a long period of time.”
Asked if it was an ACL, Fox said: “Potentially. Don’t quote me on that, we’re just waiting on confirmation. He’ll get all the support he needs.”
Fox admitted 19-year-old Adam Forrester could be added to the squad in the absence of Taylor for Saturday’s visit of Ross County.
“Potentially,” said Fox, who has worked closely with the teenager in his regular role as B team manager.
