HEARTS are in advanced signing talks with Jorge Grant after having a bid accepted for the Peterborough United midfielder.
The 27-year-old has been in Edinburgh as the Jambos attempt to convince him his future lies north of the border.
The former Nottingham Forest player is just 12 months into a three-year deal at Peterborough but The Posh have agreed to a cut-price deal following relegation to League One.
Grant scored twice in 29 appearances for Peterborough last season after joining last summer from Lincoln City, where he proved more prolific with 17 goals from 51 outings.
Hearts, who are trying to bring Lawrence Shankland back to Scotland from Beerschot in Belgium, have competition for Grant’s signature but are hopeful that guaranteed group stage football in Europe will prove an irresistible lure.
It is understood the Tynecastle outfit are not yet confident they have their man and are not expecting anything to happen ‘imminently’.
