Hearts hero Colin Cameron has taken a new role at Raith Rovers alongside an old rival he now calls a colleague and friend.
The Scottish Cup winner who lifted the trophy for the Jambos in 1998 is back in the game after being appointed assistant manager at Raith Rovers. The former attacking midfielder has signed up for ex-Hibs defender Ian Murray’s coaching staff at the Fife club where he started his career, earning 150 appearances including a famous victory over Celtic for Raith to win the League Cup.
It is not the first time the pair have shared the touchline together after a previous spell as part of the Airdrie coaching staff. The Kirkcaldy born player is returning to his stomping ground. Speaking to Raith TV, Cameron said on boss Murray: “It’s a strange one, we played at opposite sides of the Edinburgh with Hibs and Hearts, but he wanted me to come in at Airdrie, I had no hesitation to go in and join him. We just hit it off. We’ve got similar views but different as well.”

He added: “I’m absolutely delighted to be back where it all started, and hopefully I can be as successful this time around as I was the first time.”
Raith are currently battling in the Scottish Championship and sit seventh on 12 points. Cameron captained Hearts and earned 28 caps for Scotland, making his debut during his time at Tynecastle.
His most famous moment for the Jambos came when he scored the opener in Hearts famous 2-1 Scottish Cup victory over Rangers in 1998, when he scored from the spot just two minutes into the contest which saw Hearts banish their 36-year cup hoodoo.
