Hearts confirm pre-season return plan as Jambos prepare for European qualifying campaign

Hearts have confirmed their pre-season plans for the summer as the Jambos prepare to undertake their next European venture.

The Tynecastle outfit are currently waiting to find out which round of the Europa Conference League qualifiers they will enter, knowing a win for Celtic in the Scottish Cup will place them in the third round.

Inverness lifting the cup will leave them a round further away from the groups, but club chiefs are first looking to sort the managerial hurdle following an impressive impact on the touchline for Steven Naismith.

The Edinburgh Evening News is reporting that the Hearts squad will report back to Riccarton on June 27 to begin their preparations, with friendly fixtures lined up for July.

Naismith oversaw the final seven games of the season as interim boss, and several club higher ups are reportedly in favour of handing him the role on a permanent basis.

He is keen to get the gig and is awaiting news on exactly what the club’s next step will be, with Hearts looking to strengthen their squad with several new incomings over the summer once a managerial appointment is confirmed.

The former Scotland international would oversee a rebuild should be get the job, and will be turning his attentions to the first weeks of the new campaign.

Premiership actions returns on the weekend of August 5/6, and with the club not partaking in the Viaplay Cup group stages, their first does of European action could come on August 10 and 17.

Those dates are marked for the Conference League third round qualifiers, but should they go into the second round then their season will begin on July 27 and August 3 in the second round.
