Hearts will find out on Tuesday if they have been successful in overturning Jorge Grant’s red card to clear the midfielder to play against Rangers.
The Tynecastle outfit have lodged an appeal for ‘wrongful dismissal’ after the former Nottingham Forest and Peterborough United player was sent-off in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Motherwell.
Grant was shown a straight red card by referee Kevin Clancy seven minutes from the interval for a forceful challenge on Callum Slattery.
VAR could find no reason to suggest Clancy should take a second look at the tackle, but Hearts are now asking for the Scottish FA to do just that after contesting the red card.
Speaking after the game, manager Robbie Neilson said: “It’s disappointing. Kevin’s understanding of it was that he was high and reckless, and if you watch the tackle he’s on the ground.
“Yes, he makes contact but I didn’t think it was too aggressive.
“The disappointment probably is it goes to VAR and he doesn’t then go and look at it. You just hope he would maybe have a wee bit of strength to go and do that, but we didn’t see that.
“You just hope that VAR is meant to get decisions right, but I’m not sure if it got it right.”
The fast track tribunal hearing will take place on Tuesday, with Grant facing a two-match suspension - ruling him out against Rangers on Wednesday and Livingston on Saturday - if the appeal fails.
