Heartfelt message from north Manchester rapper Aitch after winning first Brit Award

Rapper Aitch spoke from the heart as the north Manchester musician picked up his first Brit Award. The 23-year-old, from Moston, picked up the prize for British Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act at last night's (February 12) glittering ceremony.

With the dust settled following the glitzy event, Aitch - whose real name is Harrison James Armstrong - shared a heartfelt message to his fans today. He wrote on Twitter: "Big up all my fans that voted we won a Brit together.

"Not many people where I’m from, especially my side of Manchester get the opportunity to receive such an amazing award. Thank you all, my fans are the best."

The message echoed Aitch's speech at last night's Brit Awards, where he reflected on being an inspiration for others across the country. He told the crowd: "I think that's the main reason I do it for, to set examples and to make people know that it's possible no matter where you're from."

It was Aitch's first Brit Award success, having been nominated for two Brits in 2021 and two more this year. It follows the release of his album Close to Home, which reached number two in the UK album chart last year.

@edgephil wrote: "Moston loud and proud" And @KarlaHilton1 tweeted: "Yay, Moston."

Coun Pat Karney, who represents Harpurhey on Manchester Council, added: "Congrats from everyone in North Manchester. Recognition of great talent and originality."
