A jilted lover phoned the police after her boyfriend broke up with her in China.
In January, a woman from Zhejiang in eastern China called police to ask them to track down her boyfriend after he ended their six-year relationship.
The woman, who hasn't been identified, wept as she asked cops to find out why he broke up with her.
The officer, also anonymous, can be heard asking her "is it necessary to find him?"
He tried to calm her by sharing an old Chinese proverb, which talks about people refusing to give up until they realise their efforts are pointless.
The woman, sobbing, replied: “But I just can’t figure out why he treated me like this."
The wise officer, who was praised on social media for his kind and calm nature, said: "He has already hurt you so much. If he returns to say some words to you, will you get involved with him again?
"You should be aware of what the root of this problem is and don’t give him any opportunity to take advantage of you,” said the officer.
“Now you clearly understand the type of person he is. It means your dedication to him is not worth it. However, there is a person waiting for you who is worth your dedication.
“Don’t feel you are unlucky. Instead, you should feel lucky because it’s better than the alternative scenario where he reveals his real nature after marrying you.”
He added: “Block his mobile number and other contact information. Break up with him in a decent manner. Have a peaceful mind and go out to meet more people, rather than staying alone and having various dark thoughts.”
The officer has become a sensation on Chinese social media, where the story became one of the most-searched news items this week.
One user said: "This police officer is so sweet!”
“What the officer said is very pragmatic. Cutting the loss in time is important if you want to have a happy life,” another added.
Others slammed her for wasting police resources.
“She called the police about this issue. I came to understand why her boyfriend left her,” said one.
