The heartbroken mum of a Scots teenager who is thought to have drowned in a river has thanked the emergency services for helping to "bring him home".
Bryce Grant - also known as Forbes - vanished from the Inverugie area of Peterhead on Thursday, April 19.
A multi-emergency search operation was launched to trace the 16-year-old, however, his mum, Jackie Forbes, has confirmed her son's tragic death.
A body was recovered by nearby River Ugie at 12.20pm on Friday April 30.
At that point, no formal identification had taken place, but the family of the missing teenager had been informed.
Writing on Facebook, Ms Forbes confirmed it was indeed her "baby boy" who had tragically passed away.
She thanked "everyone who helped to find him and bring him home", including the emergency services and others, Aberdeen Live reports.
The grieving mum also thanked everybody who had messaged her their condolences - but asked that people now stop, and stop sending friends requests, adding "I want to grieve in peace".
The post reads: "I never ever thought I'd have to do this but we found out that my son Bryce Gareth John grant died.
"Thank you, everyone, who helped to find him and bring him home - all the emergency services that helped and others.
"Thank you, everyon,e that messaged me but can you please stop giving me friend requests I want to grieve in peace."
Ms Forbes also warned others about visiting parts of the River Ugie for safety reasons - urging children and adults to be careful, to tell people where they are going, and for children to always answer their phones to their family.
In her post, she added: "This bit is to warn children and adults to be careful going to Ravenscraig. It is dangerous out there.
"Tell people where you're going and kids, always answer your phone to your parents or family.
"You are with your gran and other loved ones my baby boy, sleep tight. Until I see you again, I love you."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers can confirm that the body of a 16-year-old male was recovered from the River Ugie around 12.20pm today (Friday, April 29, 2022).
