Heartbroken landlords leave pub on edge of Peak District - now it's up for sale for £430,000

An historic village pub which closed last autumn has been put up for sale. The boozer in Darley Bridge, near Matlock, is for sale at offers over £430,000.

Former landlords of the Three Stags Heads, said they were left "absolutely heartbroken" to leave the pub after eight years of pulling pints, according to Nottinghamshire Live sister publication Derbyshire Live. The pub is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

Understood to have last traded on the evening of Saturday, October 29, 2022, a message was posted on the Three Stags Heads Facebook page when the former landlords left the pub just under four months later, on Sunday, February 5. It read: "Today's the day we say goodbye to the Stags. Thanks to each and every one of you over the last eight years! I’m absolutely heartbroken but onwards and upwards. Thank you for all your custom and support over the years! We will miss you all."

Now being advertised for sale, the venue includes its own beer garden, there is a 25-space customer car park and outbuildings that include toilets, a coal store, and a garage.

The restaurant can serve 40 covers while the pub has two-open fires. Upstairs is a four-bedroom flat that would provide "great" accommodation for an owner or holidaymakers. It does, however, require a modest scheme of renovation, according to Norfolk-based estate agent Kavanagh Hayes.

While marketed as a freehold, the pub, which is situated just off the B5057, is also available to take on as a leasehold.
