John Bishop has been showered with support as he told fans his beloved mother, Kathy, has died. The comedian said he is experiencing a "pain like no other" after her death this week, just a couple of weeks after she got to watch him in his latest role in theatre production Mother Goose.
John, 56, shared the news on Instagram, posting a picture of himself and Kathy smiling at a kitchen table as he place a loving arm around her. He also posted a video of Kathy singing along at the pantomime in the Liverpool Empire, where John had been performing,
In the post, the ITV show host wrote: "Two weeks ago my Mum came to see me in Mother Goose in Liverpool and joined in the sing a long at the end as I knew she would. This morning we said goodbye to her and we will never hear her sing again.
"As a family we are heartbroken. She was a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother and she loved us all. Next week she would have been married to my Dad for 62 years and they had a love and a friendship that was beautiful to be around. We want to thank all of the brilliant staff at Whiston Hospital on ward 3C who could not have done more and provided exceptional care for us all."
John went on to say: "Anyone who has lost a parent will understand when I say it is a pain like no other. I will never have another mother but I will be eternally grateful for being lucky enough to have had the one I did. Good night Mum, you were our sunshine."
Alan Carr was among the first to respond to John's post, writing: "Oh John. So sorry for your loss." Strictly host Claudia Winkleman commented: "Sending so much love." Musician Jools Holland replied: "We send all love and sincere condolences." Corrie actor Gareth Pierce shared: "So very sorry to hear this, John. A very beautiful tribute." DJ Example added: "Lovely words mate. Sending love."
And fans were also sharing their condolences. @lynne_sharkey said: "Beautiful words about your mum. I empathise. Condolences to you all." @xx_missb commented: "Sorry for your loss, she will have been proud." @thesugarpastefairy wrote: "I’m so deeply sorry for your huge loss John.
