Heartbroken friends pay tribute to 'lovely' Lanarkshire woman found dead in Airdrie house

Heartbroken friends of a Lanarkshire woman found dead in Airdrie have paid tribute to the "lovely person" who had an "infectious smile".

As Lanarkshire Live reported last week, Stacey Warnock, 51, was discovered by police at a property on Barra Drive in the town on Tuesday morning.

Officers descended onto the residential street before a 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the "isolated incident".

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Loved ones have described Stacey as a "beautiful soul" who was "always smiling".

Laura McWilliams said: “I’m still in shock. Your smile was a one off, truly brightened every room you were in! I hope you’re in your wee mums arms.”

Victoria Watson added: “I will treasure our memories forever. Your daft laugh and that infectious smile. May you rest at peace our darling Stacey.”

Neil Rennie commented: “Awww Stacey I will miss the banter we had together and you are still the only woman who has drunk me under the table! Fly high my friend.”

Tracy Docherty said: “A lovely person inside and out. Rest in peace.”

And Betty Lemka added: “I’m so sorry for all you beautiful friends who shared so much of your lives with Stacey. She was so special. RIP Stacey. We will always remember your beautiful smile.”

Residents in the quiet Airdrie cul-de-sac previously told how Stacey had kept to herself in recent years after moving into the street.

They told Lanarkshire Live's sister paper the Daily Record how they woke up to forensic officers outside the house on Tuesday before floral tributes were laid at the front door of the property. Candles were also placed along a wall on the driveway.

Detective Inspector Campbell Jackson said: “Our thoughts are with Stacey’s family and friends and they are being provided with support by specialist officers.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.

“There may be a police presence in the area as our investigation continues and I would like to thank the local community for their assistance with our enquiries.”
