Tributes have been been paid to a 'beautiful' 17-year-old girl who had 'the world at her feet' after she was killed in a horror car crash on a countryside road. Lily-May Vaughan died following a collision between a silver Volkswagen Golf and grey Audi A3 at 12.10pm on February 4. Emergency services rushed to the scene but nothing could be done to save Lily-May while a 17-year-old boy was was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
In a statement issued today by West Mercia Police her heartbroken family described Lily-May as a 'beautiful, kind and caring young lady'. They said: "We are heartbroken following the incident and the loss of our angel Lily-May. "She was a beautiful, kind, happy, caring and loving person who leaves behind a family that loves her dearly and who will miss her each and every day she is no longer with us.
"We are still coming to terms with the devastating loss of a 17-year-old young lady with the world at her feet and we ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time whilst the police continue their investigation."
Police said both Lily-May and the boy - who was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital - were travelling in the Golf which overturned in the smash. The force said an investigation was ongoing but no arrests had been made. PC Paul Glanville, from the Operations Policing Unit, said previously: “Our thoughts are with the families involved especially that of the young woman."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information or dash-cam footage is asked to contact police on 101.
