A grieving family have been left devastated following the tragic death of a much-loved mum-of-two.
Rachel Smith, 38, sadly died in a car crash on the evening of May 14.
The single-vehicle collision occurred on the M180 road near Scunthorpe, Grimsby Live reports.
Two men struggled to pull Rachel, from Grimsby, from the wreckage of the Ford Focus car.
The man driving the car escaped with minor injuries. Emergency services were quickly on the scene when the car crashed at approximately 9.15pm.
Her brother Karl Smith, praised the people who stopped to try to rescue his sister from the front passenger seat when the car ended up colliding with a tree before catching fire.
He said: "We are all shocked and devastated by what happened. The men who stopped did their best, while other cars were just speeding past.
"She was such a loving mother and devoted to all her family. Her sister is expecting a child very soon so she is not going to meet her niece."
Karl has been to the scene to light a candle and lay flowers and a photo in memory of his eldest sister, who has a teen son and five-year-old daughter.
Rachel's mum Pam Smith of Macaulay Street, Grimsby said: "She was a wonderful daughter and mother.
"She worked hard and loved all her family. She worked since she was 14 years old. We both worked together sometimes cleaning for various people.
"She worked for Lady Clean, Somerfields when it was on the go, Costa Coffee, Thorntons and Index. She loved going out with her sister and brother."
She said Rachel had been out with a friend having fun, when they were returning to Grimsby on Saturday evening.
Witnesses have given evidence to police who carried out a forensic examination of the scene to try to establish a cause of the crash in the eastbound carriageway of the M180, near Scunthorpe.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "Officers were called to the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the M180 at around 9.15pm last night (Saturday, May 14). It is reported that a grey Ford Focus left the eastbound carriageway between junction 3 (M181) and junction 4 (A15).
"Unfortunately, a female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss. They are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.
"The driver was taken to hospital for treatment on minor injuries. Anyone with dashcam footage, or who may have seen the vehicle prior to the incident, is asked to contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 602 of May 14."
