The heartbroken family of Rachel Callaly are outraged that her killer is making his fourth bid for freedom.
Despite Joe O’Reilly being jailed for life in 2007 for the horrific 2004 murder, he expects to be freed by the Parole Board because he believes he has done his time. It has been confirmed that Rachel’s family have been notified that the killer is again seeking his freedom this summer.
The victim’s elderly parents Rose and Jim are hoping to meet with the Parole Board to state their case as to why he should not be released.

Rose said: “It may be approaching 19 years, but the murder of my precious daughter feels as if it happened yesterday. Rachel’s murder ruined our lives and here we are again having to prepare to face another parole hearing.
“Life should mean life and that’s why he should spend the rest of his life in prison because of what he did.
“Please God, the Parole Board allows us to meet with them in prison because they need to hear about the devastation Rachel’s murder has caused.
“It’s so cruel to think that he has this opportunity while we are the people who have been left with a life sentence.”
Tragic Rachel was brutally beaten to death by O’Reilly in their home in Naul, Dublin, on October 4, 2004.
