The father of a schoolgirl killed while trying to phone for help during the Texas school gun massacre broke down and sobbed: “How do you look at this girl and shoot her?”
Amerie Jo Garza, 10, was among 19 children slaughtered by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos during a 90-minute rampage which ended when he was shot dead.
Her father, Angel Garza, discovered Amerie was dead from her best friend, who emerged from the school covered in blood.
He said: “She was just trying to call authorities and I guess he just shot her. How do you look at this girl and shoot her? Oh, my baby. How do you shoot my baby?
“I just want people to know that she died trying to save her classmates. She just wanted to save everyone.”
Ramos bought two AR-15 assault rifles for his birthday and bragged about them on social media.
The Robb Elementary school shooter then got into a spat with his grandmother, Celia Gonzalez, over a phone bill moments before shooting her.
She is reportedly in critical condition after being transported to a hospital in San Antonio.
He then shot dead Amerie and 18 of her classmates – all under 11 – along with teachers Irma Garcia, 46, and Eva Mireles, 44.
All the dead were from a single classroom where Ramos barricaded himself before being shot dead by a Border Force agent around 1pm.
One schoolgirl, Miah Cerrillo, 11, said she survived by smearing blood on herself to pretend to be dead.
Yesterday footage emerged showing parents screaming at police to enter the school, and even threatening to storm the building to rescue their kids.
It’s claimed officers took 90 minutes to access the building.
“What are you doing? Get inside the building!” one person can be heard screaming, as a seemingly panic-stricken woman was wrestled to the ground.
Another woman could be heard to say, “They’re trapped inside.”
It is unclear when the footage was filmed when Ramos was alive or had been shot dead at the school in Uvalde, Texas.
Javier Cazares, whose daughter Jacklyn was killed in the attack, said: “Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to. More could have been done. They were unprepared.”
Meanwhile chilling photos from an account allegedly belonging to Ramos reveal the teen wanted fame similar to the docuseries Don’t F*** With Cats.
His grandfather said he was a “quiet teenager” who often spent time alone in his bedroom.
“I didn’t know he had weapons,” Rolando Reyes said. “If I had known, I would have reported it.”.
Ramos allegedly used the social networking app Yubo to harass women.
One teen, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “He would be active every day and join our lives, repeating girls’ names until they paid attention to him.”
She added Ramos had compared himself to the Netflix show, Don’t F*** With Cats, a crime docuseries where a group of internet sleuths launched a manhunt for Canadian actor Luka Magnotta in 2010.
Magnotta, real name Eric Clinton Kirk Newman, gained online infamy after sharing a graphic video of himself killing two kittens before killing Chinese international student, Jun Lin.
Magnotta is currently serving a life sentence at a prison in Quebec.
