A viral TikTok has been breaking viewers hearts but the true story isn't as tragic.
The video which has racked up over 16 million views shows a tiny white dog walking away from what appears to be the scene of a road traffic accident.
As the sun goes down in the background the solemn looking pup carries a stuffed toy as Paloma Faith's song 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' plays.
With context it paints a poetically tragic picture, why is the dog alone on the road? Was his owner involved in the accident? Who will take care of him now?
TikTok users commented their heartbreak assuming the worst of the situation.
“I'm not crying u are,” commented one viewer.
“I did not need to cry for the 3rd time today,” wrote another.
Fortunately the owner of the pup came forward to explain what had really happened.
Commenting originally in Spanish but translated to English they said “hello everyone thanks for worrying he is fine we stopped on the road because of the accident and we only went down to play with him. I took him down to the bathroom and there was no road movement.”
It’s safe to say that many TikTok users were able to dry their eyes and breathe a sigh of relief.
