Heartbreaking plea to Grangemouth community to help teen girl get birthday gifts

A food bank has launched a heartbreaking plea to ensure a young Grangemouth teen gets the birthday she deserves.

Kersiebank Community Project is asking locals to donate what they can after being contacted to help out with the 14-year-old's special day this Thursday.

Due to the rising cost of living, the girl's mum is sadly unable to provide presents.

The owner of Grangemouth 's Zetland Pantry has already stepped in to provide a cake for the girl.

Taking to Facebook, KCP wrote: "We have someone who has come forward asking for a little help for a teen birthday, girl will be 14 but due to rising costs, this lady is unable to buy gifts or cake.

"Can anyone possibly be able to help please I know the shop is closed but I will happily collect to help this lady."

A number of locals have commented to offer their help.

One person wrote on social media: "This is absolutely heartbreaking stuff. It's 2022 and people should not still have to live like this - what a sin.

Another said: "This makes me so any that people are struggling like this, it's heartbreaking. I'll take a few things down on Wednesday."

While a third commented: "In tears reading this."
