Dame Deborah James has shared a touching image of her father helping to brush her hair on Father's Day, revealing she has "no strength" to do it herself. Deborah, who has reached the end-stages of bowel cancer, looked weak and frail as she sat in a chair allowing her father Alistair to brush her hair.
The caption read: "Happy Father's Day! Yes, my Dad is brushing my hair because I have no strength anymore to brush this." Deborah is currently receiving end-of-life care at home with her parent's after five years of treatment for terminal bowel cancer.
The mother of two has bravely detailed her experience and raised money for cancer research through her Bowel Babe Fund and in her Instagram post she reminded people to tell their father's that they love them while they can. She said: “I’ve not always been a big one for telling Dad how much I love him, so take it from me, just say it. You never know when it might be your last chance.”

Deborah previously spoke to The Sun about the other men in her life saying: "It's too hard to think about, the idea I won’t see my son as a father." And speaking of her husband Seb she said: "For me, this year it’s about my dad and Seb, but it’s also about the men in my life who will hopefully one day be fathers too, my son and brother."
Having posted on her Just Giving page a heartbreaking note regarding ending to her treatment for cancer back in May, Deborah has said she's: "continuing to feel blessed that she had another day" and has already outlived the life expectancy she was given by the hospital. She even managed to get to the races with her brother and his fiancée but admits the experience left her feeling 'knackered'.
Deborah posted: "I may be knackered today from Ascot yesterday, but dad is there to hold me up."
