The heartbreaking last words of Hollywood actress Dalyce Curry have been revealed after she died in wildfires that swept Los Angeles.

Mrs Curry, 95, was reportedly trapped in her Altadena destroyed home in the Eaton area.

Her remains were discovered by first responders amid the rubble on Sunday evening.

Mrs Curry, lovingly known to everyone as “Momma D”, had roles in films including the Blues Brothers, Ten Commandments and Lady Sings the Blues.

Great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, announced the news in a Facebook post as at least 25 died and thousands of homes ruined in Southern California.

Ms Kelley also shared haunting footage of the devastation, showing the former star’s Cadillac and home reduced to ash.

She had dropped Mrs Curry home on January 8 after a hospital appointment. But at the time thought the fires were too distant to reach the neighbourhood.

Ms Kelley told DailyMail.com: “She gave me a big wet kiss and she said ‘I love you’.

“I said, ‘I love you too’ and I made sure that she was safe inside. We were both so tired from the day at the hospital. I didn’t feel like she was in eminent danger because there was no evacuation order at that point.

“Sometimes her kisses were too wet that you have to wipe it off a little bit. That’s who she was. Just loving. We kissed, said goodbye and I drove back to my home. That was the last thing we said to one another.”

Ms Kelley, who lives in Claremont about 25 miles away, woke to harrowing news that fire had already consumed several blocks of Altadena.

After her movie career, Mrs Curry appeared in community theatre productions.

She also devoted her time as a home healthcare nurse for the elderly until she retired.

Mrs Curry lived in her cottage for over 20 years and loved having independence.

Ms Kelley said loved ones are struggling with moving on without their matriarch and are raising funds for her funeral.
