A fishmonger in Leeds has been forced to close despite efforts to keep the business running amid the cost of living crisis.
Union Fish, in Austhorpe Road, Cross Gates, has ceased trading they announced on social media this morning (Tuesday).
Owner Pete told customers despite trying to keep the business afloat have forced to make the “painful decision” to shut.

The closure comes as many families across the country have been faced with spiralling costs of living which has seen food prices soar and energy prices.
Pete thanked customers for their loyalty and support over the past two years in the heartbreaking announcement.
He wrote: “It is with sadness and regret that I annonce that Union Fish is now shut indefinitely.
“Despite my best efforts to keep the business afloat, many factors (some of which I am sure you are experiencing yourselves), have forced me to make the very painful decision to cease trading.
“I sincerely thank all our customers and the local retail community for their support and loyalty over the past two years.”
Customers have since said he will be “sorely missed” and they understood how difficult it is to fun a business right now.
Barbara Laing said: “I am so sorry to read your post Pete. You were a fantastic addition to the area and your products were always fresh and tasty. I hope sometime in the future you will be able to open again. You will be sorely missed.”
Christina Garofalo-Gerrard said: “Really sorry to hear about this, your shop was such a great addition to the Crossgates community. I will definitely miss it.
Lorraine Noon said: “I'm so sorry to hear this. You and your shop have been a great addition to Crossgates. It felt like going back in time, being able to come into the local friendly fishmonger. I'm sure we can all understand how difficult it must be to run a business during these times. I really wish you the best of luck Pete, you will be missed around here.”
Mike Short said: “Oh I’m so sorry to hear this Pete and I’ll miss being able to buy your fantastic fish and our friendly football banter. I wish you and your family all the very best for the future. Take care as always.”
