Heardle, a song intro guessing game inspired by Wordle, is latest viral daily puzzle

If you love the music intro round at a quiz, then there's a new Wordle-inspired game for you to try.

In the wake of Wordle, Worldle and Nerdle comes Heardle, a six-go guessing game that challenges you to guess a popular song based on its intro.

The free-to-play game, powered by Soundcloud was inspired by Wordle, and is now attracting millions of daily players.

Its creators say: "A respectful homage to Wordle, with a musical twist.

"Each Heardle is semi-randomly plucked from a long list of popularly streamed artists. Much love, and all relevant copyright, to those featured.

"Heardle was made for a small group of friends, then somehow gained millions of players overnight. Please be kind."

How to play Heardle, the Wordle-inspired song guessing game

The daily song intro guessing game is available to play for free via https://www.heardle.app/

At first, players are asked to give an answer after hearing just one second of the song's intro. They can either choose to attempt an answer or skip to hear more of the song. Players get up to six guesses, each failed attempt unlocks an extra second of the song.

As with Wordle, Heardle players can post their score - shown through coloured blocks - to social media. They can also build up winning streaks, which are recorded.

A new Heardle is posted every day.

Heardle does not charge players, but those who would like to support its creators can donate via their Ko-Fi page here.

A message on the donation page says: "If you've enjoyed playing, please consider supporting us - we'll do our best to keep improving Heardle for everyone."

What songs have been Heardle solutions?

You may be wondering how well known the songs used in Heardle are.

We won't spoil today's answer for you, but previous Heardle solutions have included Outkast's 'Sorry Ms Jackson', 'Use Somebody' by Kings of Leon, and 'Dreams' by Fleetwood Mac.
