Hear how the same iconic guitar riffs sound played on an SG, Tele, Les Paul, ES-335 and more

Gibson 1961 Les Paul SG Standard

What difference does a guitar make? Let your ears be the judge as Britney Spears live guitarist Zach Comtois puts a selection of dream electric guitars through their paces by playing classic riffs.

The only thing that doesn't change about them is the string type; all are fitted with Elixir® Electric Nickel Plated Steel Strings with OPTIWEB Coating 10-46 Light gauge. A great choice for long-lasting tone, whether you're a pro session guitarist jamming songs by the greats or anyone else!

Zach certainly knows how to pick guitars and riffs; in these videos he uses a Suhr Classic Antique, Gibson SG, ES-335 and Les Paul, along with a Fender Telecaster for timeless Guns N' Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Blink-182 and Jimmy Eat World licks.

Can his choices improve on the originals as he mixes up single-coils and humbuckers? Watch and find out in the five clips above and below.

"Every guitar I use has different wood, different setups, different pickup combinations," notes Zach. "But the one thing that's always constant are the Elixir Strings."

We'd have a hard time picking – pardon the pun – between these fine examples as all these guitars sound great. Can we choose them all? Perhaps we'll fit a fresh set of Elixir® Strings on our own guitars and find out how they sound playing these riffs!
