'He used to play for Rangers' - Kamara spared roasting amid hostile Millwall welcome

Leeds United players were targeted with abuse from Millwall supporters ahead of the Championship meeting between the clubs last weekend.

Well, almost all of the Leeds stars, with Glen Kamara spared any abuse and instead hailed as a "good player" as fans commented on him playing for Rangers.

The Finland international made the switch to Leeds in the summer after four years at Rangers. Initially signed for just £50,000, Kamara netted Rangers a significant profit in the £5.5m transfer move.

Since his move, Kamara has featured twice for Leeds - making his debut from the bench against Sheffield Wednesday before coming on against Millwall at the weekend.

Kamara climbed off the bench with seven minutes left to see out a 3-0 win for the visitors at The Den after a hostile welcome before kick-off.

However, the former Rangers star was immune from any abuse as supporters - who had been jeering each of the Leeds players - fell silent as Kamara made his way into the ground.

Then, in a rare moment of praise for rival players, one fan commented:  "That's Kamara. He used to play for Rangers - yeah, he was good you know!"

Confirming his move last month, a Rangers statement read: "Rangers Football Club can today confirm the departure of Glen Kamara to Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.

"The midfielder, who joined the club from Dundee in January 2019, made over 190 appearances across five seasons at Ibrox.

"Lifting the league title in 2020/21, and the Scottish Cup the following year, Kamara was a big part of those successes in Light Blue, featuring 51 times in the league winning season.

"A memorable goal in the 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Europa League in 2021/22 saw the Finland international help Rangers to their first European final since 2008.

"All at Rangers thank Glen for his time at the club and wish him well for his future career."
