'He understands' - Conor Coady sends Frank Lampard message and addresses Everton board criticism

Conor Coady has insisted his Everton team-mates will continue to "fight" for manager Frank Lampard, but admitted the team are not in a "good way."

The Blues defender played 90 minutes for Everton on Friday night as Everton were knocked out of the FA Cup thanks to a 3-1 loss at Manchester United.

Coady, who scored for Everton and Man United on the night, touched on how it is down to his team-mate to drag themselves out of the current state they are in.

The England international has become a leader at Everton transferring from Wolves in the summer and he told ITV his side would continue "fighting every day" for manager Lampard.

"I don't want to talk about that," Coady said. "The manager is fantastic, he's brilliant with all of us. In fact, he's outstanding with all of us. I think he understands the football club and is someone who wants to do right by the football club every single day and what he does with us every day is really good so we need to keep on listening to him.

"People look at it and say what they're going to say. We're going to keep on fighting every day for him, for the staff and most importantly, for the football club. We're listening to him every day, he's a fantastic manager, he's a fantastic person.

"That's what he's like with us every day and we're fighting for him, we'll keep on fighting for him. That's what we'll do as a team. Like I said, we go out on the training pitch and listen to him. We try to take on his ideas. Like I said, we're not in a good moment so everyone would come and say the same thing.

"As a team, we need to get out of it everyone together and we don't really want to talk about what you're talking about now."

Coady was quizzed on the "sack the board" chants from the 9000 Everton fans who made the short journey to Old Tarfford.

"That's not our domain as football players, that's not something we look at," added Coady. "We look at trying to pick up results for this football club. Everyone in that changing room loves this club, we love those supporters, you saw what they were like with us at the end.

"We need to keep on fighting because we aren't a team who can go out and play pretty football at the minute. What you're asking me isn't my domain if I'm being honest, but we all go out every day and give 200% for the shirt."
