"He said we have a cool shop" - Staff 'amazed' as Lewis Capaldi visits Newcastle vintage store

Lewis Capaldi surprised staff at a Newcastle vintage store when he wandered in on Saturday morning - just hours before his sold-out gig in the city.

The Scottish singer popped into Waceland in Newcastle's Central Arcade where he bought a vintage Dickies jacket and spent time chatting to owner Georgia Stanley. Capaldi visited the store with his manager and photographer just before 12pm and told staff that he was just exploring the city.

The 26-year-old is in the North East ahead of his show at the Utilita Arena tonight (January 21) and was first spotted enjoying fish and chips at the Waterfront chippy on North Shields Fish Quay on Friday.

And it seemed Capaldi had decided to support local businesses once again when he paid a visit to Waceland the following morning. The family-run store, which was founded in 2017, specialises in sourcing vintage items and streetwear from around the world.

Georgia Stanley, the owner of Waceland Newcastle, was delighted Capaldi had chosen to visit her shop and called him a "lovely down-to-earth guy."

"He came in with his photographer and manager just before 12pm today," she said.

"He was super nice and funny! He bought a Dickies vintage jacket from us and said he was just exploring the city and came across our shop then came in.

"He said we have a 'cool shop' and thought it 'looked sick.' He is such a lovely down-to-earth guy and it is so amazing he came in!"
