Young West Ham United star Ben Johnson has admitted that Trent Alexander-Arnold is a true inspiration to him and has 'changed the game' with his unique style and ability.
Full-back Johnson, who can operate on either the left or right hand side, has made 26 appearances for David Moyes' side this term, scoring one goal.
The 22-year-old gave an interview to West Ham's official website about the evolvement of the full-back position in football and called out Alexander-Arnold as a pioneer of the modern version of the once unfashionable role.

Speaking to West Ham TV, when asked if he had to look at other full-backs in the game, Johnson said: "I think you have to. I think attacking wise, easy, Trent. When I was starting to play full-back he was just coming through in and around the first team (of Liverpool). Even from then you could see his technical ability and what he brought to Liverpool. Unbelievable his passing!
“I got to play against him this season and just to see his football brain and the positions he takes up – not just staying wide, he comes into midfield. He’s just unbelievable, his crossing. He’s changed the game attacking wise.”
Alexander-Arnold is currently recovering from a hamstring injury that saw him side-lined against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup quarterfinal and led to his withdrawal from the England squad.
But having already posted an Instagram story, showing his recovering at a training facility in Dubai, supporters will be hopeful that the 23-year-old will be back in action shortly, as Liverpool continue to fight for major trophies on three fronts, in pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.
Alexander-Arnold has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's side this season, scoring four goals and providing a remarkable 17 assists - just one short of his own personal record in a single season.
