'He’s been rattled' - Gabby Agbonlahor aims fresh dig at Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has aimed a fresh dig at Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

The Reds boss first spoke about Agbonlahor back in August when calling out the former Aston Villa forward for comments about Manchester United. It led to Agbonlahor himself firing a message back at Klopp.

With Liverpool back in Premier League action against Brighton this weekend, Agbonlahor aimed a fresh dig at both the Reds and Klopp. Liverpool are 16 points behind leaders Arsenal and seven adrift of the top four places.

“Klopp didn’t even know my second name, he only knew my first name,” said Agbonlahor on Talksport.

“But he knew who I was, it’s that way of saying ‘oh, I don’t know who he is. What’s his name? Gabby what?’

“And ever since, [Liverpool are] 16 points behind Arsenal now, it’s not the mentality monsters season as it was before.

“I’m just saying he’s been rattled and this season Liverpool haven’t been the same as they should be.”

Back in August, Klopp called out Agbonlahor for comments about Man United. And the Liverpool boss seemingly misplaces, the former Villa striker’s surname in the process.

“I listened to Gabby….,” said Klopp in August.

“He lost against us 6-0 in my first season and I don't remember him being a mentality monster on the pitch.

“What he said on that show. I almost phoned in to tell him he has forgotten that he used to be a player. It was unbelievable.”

Agbonlahor would later respond by telling the Daily Mail: “Every pundit, everyone in the pub, every girl talking to her mates, would say exactly the same things about Man United as I did. Man United fans on the phone-in were saying ten times worse.

“So for Klopp to say that was a bit strange and to mention the 6-0 was even stranger. Why make it personal? What should I have said? That Man Utd were ‘splendidly unlucky to lose 4-0?’ I just told the truth.”

He added: “Why was he defending Man United? And the whole ‘Gabby who?’ thing. [Klopp] pretending not to know my surname. Why?

“He has watched football. He will know my name. And then his team lose at Man United anyway. He was talking about me not being a mentality monster. Well his team didn't look like mentality monsters in that game did they?

“And he is supposed to be the mentality monster king.”
