'He misses nothing' - Arne Slot verdict by those who know him as Tottenham eye next manager

It probably won't be too long at all until Arne Slot is managing in the Premier League following his incredible work in the Netherlands. Making his name with AZ Alkmaar before linking up with current side Feyenoord in 2021, Slot has guided the Rotterdam-based club to Eredivisie title success this season and that has resulted in plenty of speculation regarding a switch to England.

Having turned Leeds United down in February as they looked to find Jesse Marsch's long-term successor, Slot has been mentioned in regards to the current Tottenham head coach vacancy. Playing an attractive brand of football and capable of completing a rebuild and putting his faith in academy players, the 44-year-old ticks plenty of boxes for Spurs.

So what exactly has been said about Slot by those who know him? football.london takes a look below.

Reiss Nelson

“Holland was great for me. I felt like Arne Slot is a great manager. He really got me into my rhythm. He gave me a lot of opportunities to play and I excelled,” the Arsenal player told Colney Carpool after spending a season on loan at Feyenoord.

“It was really cool, like I said we got to the final. It was just the little things with the personal life, not my family around, the Corona situation. So it was a bit tough. But football-wise, it was perfect.”

Alireza Jahanbakhsh

"During my time at AZ, as assistant coach, Arne Slot, was one of the people who helped me to become a better player," explained former Brighton player Jahanbakhsh following his move to Feyenoord, as reported by The Argus.

"So when he called and asked if I wanted to come to Feyenoord, I told him I was going to do everything I could to make this transfer. I had no doubts."

In a further interview the Iranian ace labelled Slot as "the best" in the Netherlands.

“He is one of the best managers I’ve ever seen," he admitted (via The Athletic ). “In football terms, even the best. At the moment, he is the best in the Netherlands.”

Zeljko Petrovic

“The fitness of the team, the way of playing with a lot of pressure, high pace and a good structure in the team. What he does is unprecedented," said former Feyenoord assistant Petrovic. "I find it a pleasure to watch. In addition, Slot has the goodwill factor. A neat boy, good with his words. Fantastic.”

Oussama Idrissi

“Slot was the best," said Irissi when asked about also playing under Julen Lopetegui and Erik ten Hag. “Whether he will reach the top of European football remains to be seen, but I would dare to recommend him to clubs. He can develop players and get teams to play fun football.”

Danilo

“After Ten Hag, I now have a very good trainer again,” Feyenoord striker Danilo told Voetbal International. “What I really like is that he gives me a lot of one-on-one feedback. I really get along with Arne Slot.

“Slot is constantly working with me. It’s always about what needs to be improved, everything in detail. A step to the left or right can make the difference. Then he says; ‘Why aren’t you standing there or there, at that moment?’ Details, details. Slot misses nothing.”

Myron Boadu

“It’s a shame. It all went great at AZ, Arne is a fantastic person and a fantastic trainer, who really let us play football in the style of Manchester City or Barcelona in the good times," said his former AZ player Boadu following his exit (via Football Ghana).
