Liam Smith was involved in an ice cold final face-off with Hassan Mwakinyo after the pair weighed in ahead of their clash tomorrow night.
Mwakinyo cut an imposing figure on the scales as he weighed in at 11st 1lbs, while Smith came in at 11st 5lbs 5oz ahead of the bout at the M&S Bank Arena. Smith, highly ranked with major sanctioning bodies the WBC, WBO and the WBA, is well positioned for a world title shot should he overcome 'Tornado' Mwakinyo on Saturday night.
The 34-year-old is riding the momentum of impressive wins over Anthony Fowler and, most recently, Jessie Vargas in New York, having been dealt a setback in defeat to Magomed Kurbanov in Russia back in May 2012. And after the two glared into one another's eyes during a long face-off, Smith explained why he was full of confidence ahead of the fight.

He said: "He knows. I thought I'd give him a little reminder the last time we were in the ring together what happened.”
Before adding: "I'm at the stage of my career where that's a given. I'm more than prepared for that. Saturday night you'll see how I'm prepared for that.
"Under the lights with the gloves on, with a bit of fear in me because of the crowd, that's when you see the best of me. Liverpool fans always turn out and I'm more than grateful."
While 'Beefy' has also revealed that, like brother Callum, he harbours his own dreams of a big world title night at Anfield in the not-so distant future.
“You know what at the moment it has all got to work towards the end and start of the pre-season,” Smith replied when asked about fighting at Anfield.
“Touch wood, my timings seem to be working out that way, so hopefully fingers crossed never say never. We’ve seen it at Goodison and I just think we need to put a good fight on here and it will do well. So fingers crossed.”
