James Milner has praised the growing partnership between Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson - as he saluted a "massively important" moment for Liverpool.
Nunez moved on to nine goals for the season following his summer move from Benfica with a first-half brace in the 3-1 Premier League victory over Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Andy Robertson, who set up Liverpool's opener for Roberto Firmino, also created Nunez's second to move on to 53 assists in the Premier League - matching the best-ever tally by a defender in the competition set by former Everton and Wigan Athletic man Leighton Baines.

And Milner has been impressed by the burgeoning link-up between the duo down the left flank that also prospered in the win at Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the month.
"They’re getting that understanding and it’s great that Darwin is banging those goals in," said the veteran, who came off the bench to make his 600th Premier League appearance. "He has settled in pretty quick, to be fair. He’s still learning the language but he’s getting it, he has got a great sense of humour and obviously we’ll see more of that I’m sure once his English comes out more.
"He has got everything so it’s pleasing for him to get the goals. And Robbo, we know how much he loves an assist as well so it’s important that he keeps getting those.
"Just watching him (Nunez) in training and his attributes, his willingness to work for the team, he is obviously great in the air, a big presence, great strike with both feet, he hits it early, wants to score goals. He is a different type of striker to the other guys up there and that’s obviously great for us as a squad to have these players who all have different attributes."
Liverpool's game was their last before the break for the World Cup, with Jurgen Klopp's side now not in action until the Carabao Cup fourth round tie at Manchester City on December 22.
After a difficult start to the campaign, the Reds have won their last four games and remain within striking distance of the top four with almost two-thirds of the season still to play.
And Milner, speaking to liverpoolfc.com, said: "It was massively important to win with that break, finishing on a high and taking that momentum. Obviously going away, it’s a long time to think about a poor result until the next game, so it’s nice to do that.
"As soon as we come back the games come thick and fast again, so it’s an important period again. It’s going to be (about) making sure we get the balance right of getting the rest and being ready to come back in. Straight back into it. It’s good to see more of the performances we want to see these last few weeks, a bit more consistency, that’s important."
