VIJAYAWADA
A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court led by Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra adjourned the cases related to the abuse of judges through social media, to April 20.
The advocate appearing for the High Court filed a fresh compilation of material and the counsels for the Social Media Intermediaries (SMI) wanted to go through it.
It may be noted that the High Court itself got a complaint lodged by the Registrar General with the police and filed a writ petition on its own motion upon taking a serious note of what was considered by it as a war on the judiciary.
The court was dealing with the said petition filed for initiation of prosecution against the offenders and contempt cases thereof.
The material filed by the advocate who appeared for the High Court on Monday was in support of the plea for geo-blocking of websites and the SMI.
The court had expressed displeasure at the alleged inaction of the SMI in taking remedial action, and the apparent delay on the part of the CBI in bringing the culprits to book.
Govt. seeks time
Meanwhile, the case pertaining to the Mahila police rules was posted by the same Bench to March 29 by conceding the government’s request to enable it to produce original records.
