Etienne suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury in his left foot that required surgery in the preseason. Robinson tore his left Achilles in a Dec. 26 loss to the New York Jets.
Pederson said Etienne will be ready to return in April, but Robinson likely won’t be available until the start of training camp.
It’s not surprising to see Robinson’s recovery take a little bit longer since his injury occurred more recently.
He also added that he loves both running backs. Then when a reporter asked about the role they could see Etienne in, Pederson smiled and raised an eye and then said that they would have to wait and see.
#Jaguars HC Doug Pederson says he expects Travis Etienne ready to go early in offseason (OTAs/minicamp). He says James Robinson probably won’t be ready until training camp. He says Robinson can be 3-down RB & Etienne’s role he said “we’ll see” with a wide smile.

Etienne has a special skill set, hence why the Jags used its second pick in the first round in the 2021 NFL Draft to take quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s college teammate. He was a true three-down back at Clemson and was very dependable catching passes out of the backfield.
