Could the Boston Celtics end up signing and trading reserve forward Grant Williams or Malcolm Brogdon for a lottery pick this offseason? According to new reporting from Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, the Indiana Pacers are looking to sign a “starting-caliber wing” and “have made the No. 7 pick available for a trade.”
The Pacers may be looking for more of a small forward than a large guard or small big man, however, but previous reporting has connected Indiana to Williams in recent days, and Haynes electing to group the Celtics and Pacers together in the article may signal that there is smoke here in terms of a deal to be made. It could also simply have been a coincidence.
As for Boston, Haynes reports that the Celtics “are fielding calls on the multitude of quality guards on their roster “to create some position balance” given the overabundance of guards on the team and paucity of big men.

Presumably, Indiana would want more back in return for Williams or Brogdon, but the nucleus of a deal could be there as well, depending on what the Pacers are after.
