Hay fever sufferers say 'miracle cure' £2.99 tablets get rid of symptoms for 24 hours

Hay fever symptoms can be miserable for people with allergies as red eyes, a runny nose and itchiness are often be difficult to soothe.

But there's one over-the-counter antihistamine tablet which has been dubbed a “miracle cure” to alleviate these nasty symptoms.

Allevia, which retails as low as £2,99, has received glowing reviews after it went viral on TikTok. The tablets claim to provide relief from symptoms for up to 24 hours - and you can get them in most supermarkets and chemists, selling at Superdrug for £5.89.

The tablets were only available on prescription until they were re-classified in 2021. This means people can buy the pills on general sale from their local shop, supermarket or chemist and get relief within 1 hour.

Allevia, which can also be purchased at Boots for £11.50 as part of a bundle worth £16.50, alleviate symptoms including:

  • Sneezing

  • Itchy, runny, blocked nose

  • Itchy, watery and red eyes

You can also purchase a seven-tablet pack on Amazon for £2.99, 30-pack for £8.99, or 70-pack for £22.05.

Some of Boots’ bestselling antihistamines include Allacan 10mg film-coated tablets, which come in a single pack, three-pack, or six-pack. They range from £2.49, £3.49 and £11.70 currently online.

Boots also sell a number of Hayfever Relief Bundles, including one featuring Allevia 120g Tablets and Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops 10ml for £11,50, saving £5.20.

Their bestselling bundle is their own brand Boots Hayfever and Allergy Relief Bundle - Cetirizine for £16.60. The bundle features three packs Boots Hayfever & Allergy Relief 10mg Tablets (30 Tablets), Boots Hayfever Relief 2 per cent w/v Eye Drops 10ml, and Boots Hayfever Relief For Adults 50 micrograms/dose Nasal Spray. The product is currently sold out online but can be found in stores.

Other alternatives include Piriton Antihistamine Allergy Relief Tablets x 30 for £4.99, Piriteze Antihistamine Allergy Relief Tablets x 30 for £10.55, and Benadryl Allergy Relief x 12 for £6.
