The rail and tube strikes that have dominated Londoners’ lives since last year have left many dreading going into the office.
July is set to be peppered with travel chaos, with members of the RMT and Aslef, who work for the London Underground and National Rail, set to take turns striking between today, Thursday July 20, and Saturday July 29.
Though it’s likely set to be a trying time for most, Hawksmoor has stepped in to brighten up the narrative. The renowned steakhouse has revealed that it will be offering £15 meals – a steak frites – throughout every day in July, strike or not, and thereafter on any future strike day impacting rail and tube journeys for the foreseeable future.
The classic dish usually costs £25. The offer excludes bone marrow, and any fillets, tails or sides that you might choose to add to your order.

The offer will cover all of their restaurants across London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Liverpool, and be available from Monday to Saturday between noon and 6 pm.
All steak-lovers need to do to access the deal is make a booking via the Hawksmoor website and quote “Strike Steak” in the notes section.
In London, Hawksmoor has eight branches. These are:

On its website, the restaurant chain revealed that the reason behind their deal was to help keep their restaurants going and give people a reason to come into town, despite the fact that they won’t be making any money from the offer.
They added that they would encourage those who can’t make their way to a Hawksmoor branch to still consider grabbing lunch somewhere, sharing that the hospitality sector has lost around £3 billion since the strikes started, causing many businesses to close their doors for good.
