Hawa Cissoko given extended ban as West Ham and Aston Villa fined for WSL brawl

West Ham United Women 's star Hawa Cissoko will miss a total of five matches after hitting Aston Villa's Sarah Mayling in the face during a Women's Super League clash last month.

The Hammers secured a 2-1 victory at the Poundland Bescot stadium however the performance was marred by unsavoury scenes towards the end of the game. A confrontation between Mayling and Cissoko resulted in the latter striking her opponent in the face.

Cissoko was promptly sent off and the melee continued in the dugout with West Ham boss Paul Konchesky also dismissed. Both clubs have also been fined £1,000 by Football Association for breaching FA Rule E20 and failing to ensure that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

Though both clubs refuted the charges, an independent regulatory commission subsequently found their charges to be proven and imposed the fines during a hearing.

Cissoko has also been given a £200 fine and will miss two games for the Hammers as a result of breaching FA Rule E3 - on top of the three games for her dismissal.

The French defender accepted that her behaviour following the offence that she got sent off for was violent but denied it was also improper after that in the technical area.

The independent regulatory commission found the second charge to be proven and imposed her sanctions.

Paul Konchesky and Aston Villa Operations Assistant, Jack Hopkins, have been fined £325 and £250 respectively for also breaching FA Rule E3.

Konchesky and Hopkins accepted the charge, but denied that their behaviour in the 91st minute was improper. The independent regulatory commission found the charge against Jack Hopkins to be proven and imposed both of their sanctions.

The independent regulatory commission’s written reasons for all of these decisions will be published by the FA at a later date.
