Have your say on Tony Mowbray's Sunderland future amid continued speculation

Speculation over the future of Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray has intensified following their Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Luton Town.

The Black Cats boss is keen to stay on at the club, having guided the Wearsiders to sixth place in their first season back in the second tier. However, while talk of the club looking for a new manager has been played down at the Stadium of Light, rumours of potential candidates refuse to go away.

And Mowbray himself said he would 'wait and see' when asked about his future role at the club - although stressed he wanted to continue the job he has started this season.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat at Luton which meant a 3-2 aggregate semi-final score, Mowbray said: "I've enjoyed it, but who knows what my future holds. Let's wait and see. Do I want to be here next season? I do, yes.

"But let's wait and see how it goes, and what the summer brings. I don't know what will happen next. I'll just get on with it. I've got a contract so I'll just keep going. I only mention that [his contract] off the speculation off recent weeks. Let's wait and see. Do I feel insecure? Not at all. Modern-day football clubs can do what they want."

The speculation has come as a surprise to many, with Mowbray managing to deal with a long injury list - with several key players ruled out - to keep the Black Cats in the promotion hunt thoughout the season. And while they ultimately fell just short, most fans see this campaign as a big success, given the four seasons spent in League One.

We want to know what you think of the recent rumours? Would you be in favour of Mowbray staying, or do they need a new manager? Has the speculation surprised you, and do you think Mowbray will be charge when next season kicks off?

Take our Sunderland survey above, and we'll compile the answers to give an overall picture of the mood on Wearside.
