Have your say on permanent traffic ban through College Green

The permanent traffic ban through College Green came into effect today.

Previously private cars were permitted outside the hours of 7am and 7pm during weekdays. However, they are now banned on a 24/7 basis.

Local access to the Dame Street and College Green areas and to the Bank of Ireland and Fosters place will be maintained for general traffic but they cannot exit using the Bus Gate. Business representative group Dublin Town had previously voiced concerns about access, saying the ban will lead to "difficulties".

Dublin City Council said the measure will help improve travel times for the two million public transport users who pass Trinity College's front entrance every week.

"The College Green Pathfinder Project will help alleviate public transport congestion in the city core, prioritising public transport at all times," the Council said.

What do you think of the College Green permanent traffic ban? Will it improve public transport or cause difficulties for businesses? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
