The combined death toll from the earthquakes that hit central Turkey and north-west Syria on Monday has passed 11,000.
The magnitude 7.8 earthquake, which hit in the early hours of Monday morning, was followed by a second, 7.7 quake in the middle of the day.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that the death toll from Monday’s quake has reached 8,754. There have been 2,470 known deaths in Syria.
