Have Shakira and Carlos Vives Reconciled?

En español

Colombian music legends Carlos Vives and Shakira seem to have reconciled—at least, that's what Vives hinted at on social media.

Shakira and Vives once gifted fans an incredible song, "La Bicicleta," which blended their styles and made history in Latin music.

Their friendship was known to be one of the most genuine in the industry, but something changed at a moment. This was evident at the 2024 Latin Grammys when Shakira was notably absent from the tribute honoring Vives as Person of the Year.

At the time, the media couldn't help but ask Carlos why his close friend wasn't there and why Alejandro Sanz, instead of Shakira, presented him with the prestigious award. Carlos responded gracefully:

"Alejandro is my friend; he's wonderful. The ones who were meant to be there were there. In 30 years, you build a family and naturally connect more with some artists than others."

His words sparked speculation among fans, the media, and fellow artists about a possible rift, though nothing was ever confirmed.

Now, three months later, Carlos has reappeared with positive energy on Shakira's social media. Have they reconciled?

On February 11, Shakira shared a post ahead of her concert in Brazil, expressing her excitement and dedication to the performance:

"Today's the day. As I write this from my dressing room, the reflection in the mirror shows a woman who has given her all—every breath, every note, every step. Twelve months, fourteen hours a day, an entire year preparing every detail with one goal in mind: to give you the best show of my life."

Among the many comments from fellow artists, Vives left a heartfelt message, making it clear their bond remains strong:

"I love you and send you all my best. It's going to be spectacular!"

Shakira and Carlos Vives first met while launching their music careers in Bogotá. Together, they have proudly represented Colombia on the global stage. In 2016, they released 'La Bicicleta,' a chart-topping hit that won two Latin Grammys and three Premio Lo Nuestro awards.
