Have a cuppa and raise money for charity urges STV weatherman Sean Batty

Paisley weatherman Sean Batty is urging Buddies to stick the kettle on and have a cuppa with a biscuit to raise money for charity.

The STV presenter has teamed up with Lidl which is donating 10p from every pack of Knightsbridge Scottish Blend tea and McAllister’s Luxury Butterscotch Crunch and Dark Chocolate Orange biscuits sold between 28 July and 22 September to STV Children’s Appeal.

Funds raised will go to grassroots charities and community organisations that support some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and young people.

Weatherman and STV Children’s Appeal ambassador Sean Batty said: “Now more than ever it’s vital we all do our bit to support local charities, and what better way than by having a Lidl cuppa and a wee biscuit?

“Together we really can brew up a storm for good causes that are sure to brighten the days of children and young people right across Scotland.”

Over the last decade, Lidl and its customers have raised over £572,000 through initiatives including charity products, events, raffles and exercise challenges.

Lidl’s regional director for Scotland, Ross Millar, said: “At Lidl, we pride ourselves on being able to make a positive impact on the local communities we serve and the ‘chari-tea’ initiative is a great way for our shoppers to get involved in making that difference.”

The STV Children’s Appeal was launched in 2011 to raise funds and help make a real difference to the one in four children and young people living in poverty in Scotland.

It offers practical help like food and warm clothes; creates opportunities for training and employability; and enables social and emotional support. It works closely with Scotland’s leading experts in the field of child poverty, sharing knowledge and expertise with both small community groups and national charities on their experiences of addressing the challenges of child poverty in Scotland.
