'Hate to say' - Simon Jordan sends Steve Cooper message as Brighton eye Graham Potter replacement

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has said Brighton should be "knocking on Nottingham Forest's door" for head coach Steve Cooper.

Brighton are seeking a replacement for Graham Potter, who is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Chelsea following the departure of Thomas Tuchel earlier this week.

Jordan says if he were the owner of Brighton, he would be asking Forest for permission to speak to Steve Cooper about the vacancy. Both Cooper and Potter have drawn parallels throughout their career as young, progressive British coaches who have both been in charge of Swansea City before advancing to the Premier League.

"Where would I go? I look into the Championship, I can't see anyone in there like they had the privilege of looking at Swansea (for Potter)," Jordan said.

"I hate to say it, but if I was Brighton I'd be knocking on Nottingham Forest's door. Absolutely. Wouldn't get very far with it, possibly, but that's the sort of situation you're looking (at)."
