Om Prakash Chautala played a long innings in the politics of Haryana as well as the country and he was counted among the prominent leaders of the Jat community. He was a part of NDA and United National Progressive Alliance at the national level.
Om Prakash Chautala has two sons Ajay Singh and Abhay Singh and a daughter Sunita. His son Ajay Singh is a former MP from Bhiwani Lok Sabha seat and younger son Abhay is a former MLA from Ellenabad.
His grandson Dushyant Chautala has been a former MP from Hisar Lok Sabha and former Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana.
Om Prakash Chautala was born in 1935 in a Jat family of Sihag gotra in a village named Chautala of Dabwali in Sirsa, Haryana.
Om Prakash Chautala also known as OP Chautala has served as the 7th Chief Minister of Haryana from the Indian National Lok Dal. He is the son of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal.
