Harry Winks has stated that he has not heard from anyone at Tottenham during his Sampdoria loan spell. One of four players not part of Antonio Conte's plans for the 2022/23 campaign, the midfielder finally departed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of August following plenty of speculation regarding his next move.
With a permanent exit not coming to fruition, Winks headed to the Genoa-based club on a season-long loan deal with Sampdoria having an option in their agreement to purchase him this summer. Hit by injury during his first few months in Italy and not making his debut for Blucerchiati until January, the 27-year-old has been a regular starter in Sampdoria's team since coming on for his debut away at Empoli.
Impressing in midfield despite their struggles, it remains to be seen what will happen with Winks once his deal at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium comes to an end. Still having 12 games of the Serie A season to go before his year in Liguria draws to a close, Winks has indicated to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport that he has yet to hear from Conte or anybody at the club since swapping Spurs for Sampdoria.

“No one from Tottenham has contacted me, not even the coach," outlined Winks. "I was and remain totally focused on Sampdoria."
On his Sampdoria loan and what the future holds, he added: "I have a loan contract until June, I'm satisfied with this experience, I don't know what my future will be after June and I don't even think about it now.
"I'm only looking at the next match, but I was pleased to have made this choice last year. I'm proud of it. And I repeat it today, beyond the current difficulties."
Sampdoria face a major battle to maintain their place in Serie A as they are currently 12 points adrift of safety with games quickly starting to run out. Their league position may have looked different had Winks, who has made an impact in the team since his return from injury, not watched from the sidelines in the first 13 league games of his Sampdoria loan.
“I simply believe that if I had played from the start, without my physical problems, I certainly would have done everything possible to help the team, but I don't want to think that my presence would have been so fundamental," he said.
"This is a great team, regardless of what has happened and is happening, and I'm just one of the elements that make it up. Let's not forget that."
